West Ham United have reportedly not given up on the idea of signing Bayer Leverkusen ace Jonathan Tah just yet.

According to Football Transfers, West Ham have not been perturbed by missing the release clause deadline for Jonathan Tah this summer.

West Ham recently missed the chance to sign Tah for just £15 million after his release clause with Leverkusen expired.

Utterly bizarre claim made about West Ham interest in Jonathan Tah

Football Transfers claim that Leverkusen will sell the Germany international if the price is right and that the Hammers are very interested in signing him.

This one doesn’t make sense at all to me, and not because Tah wouldn’t be a good signing for us.

Surely if Moyes was so keen to sign the Leverkusen centre-back this summer, West Ham would have activated his release clause last week? What, we’re expected to believe that the Hammers didn’t move for him then and are happy to pay far more than that amount now? Do me a favour.

The Hammers aren’t exactly flush with cash.

In fact, the noise coming out of the club is that there are concerns about finances after we were placed on the FFP watchlist.

If West Ham really wanted to sign Jonathan Tah, we would have signed him when he was available for just £15 million, make no mistake about that.

The latest report providing an update on our apparent interest in the German is nonsensical to say the least.
