The Hammers made a £23 million bid for the Fiorentina centre-back in September according to a report from Gianluca Di Marzio.

Corriere dello Sport claims that the Serie A outfit value the 23-year-old at closer to £30 million, however.

Now Tottenham could challenge West Ham for the 23-capped Serbia international’s signature.

And Spurs’ alleged interest in Milenkovic could be a very big blow to the Hammers’ hopes of bringing the Serbian centre-back to east London.

Milenkovic is very highly rated in the game. And he has been personally scouted by Jose Mourinho on numerous occasions (The Sun).

Things are looking very good at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at the moment. So it would be no surprise if the 23-year-old opted to join Spurs rather than the Hammers either in January or next summer.

Stats

The 22-year-old played 37 Serie A games for Fiorentina last season, scoring five goals in the process. During those outings, the Serbian averaged 1.2 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 3.3 clearances and 0.5 blocks per game. He also won an average of 2.3 aerial duals per match during that period of games (Who Scored).

Milenkovic is an absolutely superb player. And he would improve either West Ham’s or Tottenham’s defences immeasurably.

The Serbia international’s current contract with Fiorentina is set to expire in the summer of 2022. And with him refusing to put pen to paper on a new long-term deal, Fiorentina director Daniele Prade has admitted that he could decide to sell the 27-year-old, when speaking to Sempre Inter:

“We will try to renew Milenkovic’s contract and, if he doesn’t accept, we will sell next year.”

It seems as though Milenkovic is very much up for grabs. And West Ham absolutely must do everything within their power to try and beat Tottenham to his signature.
