West Ham United were heavily linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur outcast Danny Rose in the summer.

ExWHUemployee makes claim over West Ham transfer plans for January and summer

Back in September reliable West Ham insider ExWHUemployee claimed David Moyes had been offered the chance to sign Tottenham’s once coveted left-back Rose.

West Ham fans felt it was imperative the club signed a new left-back in the summer.

Hammers were offered Spurs outcast Rose in last window

But Rose remained at Tottenham despite making it clear he was not happy with his lack of game time under Jose Mourinho during the infamous All or Nothing Amazon documentary last season.

Rose has not been in a Spurs squad this season and was not even handed a shirt number.

The brilliant Sergio Reguilon is Tottenham’s new first choice left-back with back-up from the likes of Ben Davies.

West Ham went into what has been their best season for 22 years without a new left-back.

Moyes switched to a wingback formation. And whether by luck or judgment, it brought out the best in both Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku as left centre back and left wingback respectively.

Moyes wants new left-back if opportunity arises – reports

Masuaku’s recent knee operation has ruled him out until March, though, leaving West Ham even more exposed at left-back.

With the January window open, Moyes insists he can do deals if the right one is available but admits money is tight (FourFourTwo).

And the likes of Sky Sports and The Evening Standard claim the Scot wants to bring in a left-back this month ‘if the opportunity arises’.

So should the West Ham boss move for Rose after Sky Sports revealed Tottenham are open to offers for the defender?

“While Tottenham want to keep (Dele) Alli, they are willing to allow Paulo Gazzaniga and Danny Rose to leave the club,” Sky Sports claims.

Tottenham open to offers for Rose so should Moyes renew interest?

“The left-back’s contract expires this summer – meaning he is free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club from this month – but Spurs are willing to allow him to leave permanently during this transfer window.”

With his contract up in the summer and the fact he is not even part of the Spurs squad, West Ham could pick Rose up for a relative bargain.

Rose may be 30, but the former England star proved on loan at Newcastle last season that he can still perform in the Premier League.

And as a short-term option until West Ham’s finances return to something like normal, Rose could be a no-brainer.
