A top level source inside West Ham United has made two claims that will please fans.
West Ham’s season is in limbo after the Premier League shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic.
All football is suspended until April 30th at the earliest.
But with the country likely to still be in lockdown by then, there is growing uncertainty about when and even if West Ham’s battle against relegation will resume.
West Ham and football in limbo
West Ham fans are not alone, though. There are a plethora of issues yet to be decided including European places, promotion, the title and relegation.
With the dearth of action, the future of certain players has also come back under the spotlight. The likes of Felipe Anderson, Declan Rice and Issa Diop have been linked with moves away.
But fellow Hammers website Claret & Hugh reports that a top level source inside West Ham has made two bold claims that will please supporters.
Claret & Hugh regularly quotes its inside source – which is believed to be none other than the owners themselves.
Top level source inside West Ham makes two bold claims
And the source has told C&H they are confident West Ham will avoid relegation whether football resumes or not and they have no intention of selling their best young players such as Diop.
“Confidence is growing on two fronts that they will maintain their PL status either on the pitch or off it with the no relegation and null and void options remaining on the agenda,” C&H reports.
“Most inside the club feel that the team was seriously hitting form before the break and have winnable games that will see them safe anyway.
“Speaking via email he (the inside source) said: “There is absolutely no future in selling our best players despite the growing hole in the finances created by the pandemic.
“We have no interest whatsoever in listening to offers for Issa.”
Moyes looking to reinvent Hammers
That will come as a huge relief to fans.
David Moyes has made it clear he wants to completely reinvent West Ham and build a new-look team around young, hungry players (whufc.com).
Diop has been back to his best for West Ham before the break.
Keeping him, staying up and the prospect of Moyes adding more like him and Jarrod Bowen to the squad will give supporters plenty to look forward to.
