West Ham boss David Moyes has a huge summer transfer window ahead of him.

Whatever happens this season, it is clear to see that the Hammers are on the right track under the Scot.

If West Ham finish inside the top six this term, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that we need to sign at least five new players.

David Moyes needs to bring in two centre-forwards, two central midfielders and a left wing-back. It could be argued that we need a top class centre-back as well if Fabian Balbuena ends up leaving.

In January, David Moyes had £30 million to spend on a striker if he wanted it (Sky Sports).

So one would presume that we have at least double that amount to spend in the summer.

We all know our board too well, however. It would be no surprise at all if that £30 million from January was simply rolled over to the summer budget.

West Ham boss David Moyes can boost his budget with sensible decisions

The Hammers have plenty of players who have offered us next to nothing over the past 12 months or so.

Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko and Manuel Lanzini have all been incredibly disappointing since the start of last season.

The Brazilian is currently out on loan with Porto whilst the Ukrainian and the Argentine have played peripheral roles for West Ham this season.

It is true that all three players’ transfer values have plummeted over the past 12 months.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that the Hammers could still garner around £30-40 million for the three players, however, if we did decide to sell them in the summer.

Moving the three players on would also get roughly £270k-a-week off our wage bill! (Spotrac).

It seems like a no brainer.

West Ham should also release Fabian Balbuena. That would release another £40k-a-week in wages (Spotrac).

If the Hammers move those four players on, we will be in a great position to make an assault on the transfer market in the summer.

The future is bright at the London Stadium. And now is the time to make smart decisions regarding some players who have offered us absolutely nothing recently.
