Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah is firmly on the West Ham United transfer radar this summer it seems.
Trevoh Chalobah first emerged as a West Ham target last summer when the Hammers desperately needed a new centre-back, but he remained at Stamford Bridge in the end.
Hammers head coach Julen Lopetegui has already strengthened his central defensive ranks at the London Stadium this summer with the addition of Max Kilman.
However, the signing of the 27-year-old will not be enough, if Lopetegui has genuine ambitions to get us back inside the top seven this season.
Chalobah would certainly be a fine partner for Kilman, and at 25 he has many of his best years lying ahead of him.
The Chelsea star is a proven Premier League defender, and his future clearly lies away from Stamford Bridge.
However, there seems to be two major problems West Ham face, as Lopetegui moves in to sign the 25-year-old this summer…
The two things stopping Trevoh Chalobah from joining West Ham
So the Blues ace seems to be a prime transfer target for Lopetegui.
The Hammers head coach has quite clearly identified central defence as the area where he most urgently needs to strengthen.
It’s no surprise after our leaky back-line pathetically shipped 74 Premier League goals last season – the fourth worst tally in the division worsened only by the three relegated teams.

According to a report from The Times, Chalobah is a transfer target for the Hammers this summer, but we face two major problems.
Firstly, he earns around £80k-a-week at Chelsea – wages that West Ham will apparently struggle to match.
Secondly, the Chelsea star is keen to join a club this summer that can offer him European football.
Obviously West Ham can’t provide that this season, so it remains to be seen whether or not we can convince Chalobah to join us.
The 25-year-old could be available for around £25 million this summer, according to The Times.
That seems like superb value to me, given his genuine quality and extensive experience of playing at the highest level.
Described as an ‘incredible’ defender by Football.London, the 25-year-old possesses real pace, is strong in the air, and reads the game very well indeed.
He’s a central defender by trade, but can also operate as a right-back or even as a defensive midfielder if need be.
Chelsea ace Trevoh Chalobah would be a very solid addition for West Ham this summer, if we manage to get a deal over the line for him.
If there is any way possible of making it happen, the Hammers owners need to push the boat out here, it really is as simple as that.
