Not one Premier League club made more signings than West Ham United during the 2026 January transfer window.

Only Bournemouth made as many incomings as West Ham United in a dramatic January transfer window, with both clubs signing five players.

Four of West Ham’s January signings are first team additions. Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe bolster Nuno Espirito Santo’s attacking options, while Adama Traore brings extra support in wide areas.

Axel Disasi, meanwhile, adds another defensive option – one desperately needed right now.

In total, West Ham spent around £47.2million on players in January 2026 – although they did recoup a lot of money through player sales.

After everything came to a close, Hammers News asked their subscribers on TalkingPoints to grade how things have gone.

The response was interesting…

West Ham United deliver mixed response to January transfer window business

There aren’t many supporters who back the decisions made at executive level.

Still – and while those who are pleased with the January business are hardly providing a ringing endorsement of the West Ham board generally – some of our subscribers to TalkingPoints sounded positive about the window.

“[A]. Difficult time to buy, especially in the position we find ourselves.. Overall should be enough if players show true in every game until end of season COYI,” was one response.

Our squad is set, but it’s not perfect – and exactly who is to blame for that?

Another wrote: “Not easy when the club is stuck in the bottom three. B.”

One fan said: “B – Five players in and all the deadwood shipped out.”

The more negative responses read: “D not enough done to tidy up the defence. Poor.”

“Capital D,” wrote another supporter.

“D for disaster or C for Championship bound.. it’s a tough one.”

West Ham United’s January transfer business is a risk

There’s little doubt that West Ham have gambled in the transfer market with their January signings.

Taty and Pablo are unproven at this level, while Disasi hasn’t played in months. Keiber Lamadrid, meanwhile, isn’t expected to play in the first team during what remains of this season.

To suggest that anyone can bank on Traore for end product would be a major stretch, too.

If what the club have done in the January transfer window keeps them in the Premier League, then these will have been inspired additions.

There is, however, currently precious little to suggest they will do that.
