Stuart Pearce has reacted after transfer reporter Alex Crook confirmed an imminent West Ham bid for Man United star Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

There is a reason West Ham’s reported interest in Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka goes beyond transfer gossip.

The Hammers have been heavily linked with the £50m Man United outcast for the best part of two years.

But, intriguingly, the club rivalling West Ham for Wan-Bissaka last summer and the January before was Wolves.

Managed by none other than new Hammers head coach Julen Lopetegui – an alleged former Man United target.

Signing a new right-back was always on the agenda for the Hammers this summer.

Right-back to where we started for West Ham

But it has become imperative now that Vladimir Coufal’s only back-up, Ben Johnson, has left to join Ipswich.

West Ham have been in talks with Southampton over Kyle Walker-Peters.

But the Saints have been haggling for more money and the Hammers have turned their attentions to Man United’s one-on-one specialist.

Indeed Wan-Bissaka – who has already said his goodbyes at Manchester United at the end of last season – is now starting to look more likely for the Hammers.

An inside source at Manchester United claimed overnight that West Ham will bid for Wan-Bissaka imminently.

Now a former Hammers assistant boss has had his say after that claim was verified by a talkSPORT journalist.

Pearce reacts as Crook confirms West Ham in for Wan-Bissaka

Stuart Pearce has reacted as Alex Crook confirms an imminent West Ham bid for Man United star Wan-Bissaka.

Crook has confirmed Wan-Bissaka’s future does lie away from Manchester United.

And it is expected the Hammers will now formally approach the Red Devils.

Ex West Ham assistant and player Pearce has given the move his blessing.

“I think it (Wan-Bissaka’s future) does lie away from Old Trafford,” Crook said at 11:44 am on talkSPORT.

“West Ham are in the market for a new right-back this summer, and it’s expected that they are going to approach Manchester United about a potential move for Wan-Bissaka.

“I think it could be a good move for him actually.”

‘A really good move’

Pearce, who was at West Ham when they signed Coufal, agreed.

“I think it would be a really good move for both club and player,” Pearce added.

Since West Ham’s plan to sign a new first choice right-back became apparent there has been a change in attitude from Coufal.

It had been reported that Coufal was seriously unhappy with his contract at the London Stadium and was thinking about leaving.

It’s even been reported that Galatasaray will send a delegation for Coufal.

Dharmesh Sheth has claimed Coufal now wants to stay and impress Lopetegui.

There is no doubt, though, if West Ham can cut a deal with Man United for Wan-Bissaka – who is in the last year of his contract – then he will arrive as the new first choice.
