A star forward has been training in the off-season so that he’s ready for a big move to West Ham ahead of an expected bid.

In the past West Ham have wasted weeks and months fruitlessly chasing players.

David Moyes did just that with the likes of Jesse Lingard and Harry Maguire to name but two.

This summer West Ham’s new head coach Julen Lopetegui and technical director Tim Steidten don’t have that kind of time to waste.

The Hammers need six to eight new signings and they want at least three in ready for the start of pre-season training.

One looks set to sign this week with Brazilian teenage midfield ace Luis Guilherme reportedly jetting in for his West Ham medical on Monday.

It was revealed at the weekend that West Ham want another six or seven with a left-sided attacking forward high on the agenda.

Attentions turn to next signing after Guilherme

Most likely due to the uncertainty surrounding Lucas Paqueta.

West Ham have been heavily linked with a number of players in that position.

But most consistently of late the club has reportedly been showing serious interest in Portuguese talent Jota Silva.

If you’ve been following Hammers News you will know all about Silva – the Portuguese answer to Jamie Vardy.

The 24-year-old Vitoria de Guimaraes star has fought his way up from the country’s bottom tier to represent his country.

And West Ham are said to be preparing a bid to meet his £17m release clause.

Despite an excellent season in which he scored 14 goals and laid on five assists, Silva did not quite make the cut for Portugal’s star-studded Euro 2024 squad.

According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, Silva ‘knows his exit is imminent’ amid the interest from the Hammers.

The site claims West Ham are yet to activate Silva’s release clause but believe that could come any day now with the Guilherme deal coming to a head.

And though Silva remains ‘calm about the situation’ he has continued to keep himself in ‘peak physical condition’ to be ready.

“West Ham, as BOLA knows, continues to follow Jota Silva very closely, however it has not yet presented an official proposal to the player and those responsible for Vitoria de Guimaraes,” A Bola reports.

“Therefore, the 24-year-old striker remains very calm about his future and how this closed season may unfold.

“In fact, Jota Silva is already maintaining his physical shape, while he is still on vacation, intending to present himself, on June 19, in full capacity, at the start of work on the 2024/25 season…

“According to our newspaper, the striker awaits the proposals without great anxiety, but realises that his departure from the castle is imminent.”

Hammers will be getting top pro and player

It sounds like West Ham will be getting a determined and consummate professional is they sign Silva.

Not to mention a versatile one.

He looks like a Portuguese Jack Grealish but has all the hallmarks of a player who appreciates the platform he now has.

Silva’s desire and hunger to score and make goals shines through in his play.

West Ham will be getting value for money in terms of the overall package too. Because Silva can play on either wing, in central attacking midfield and as a striker.

Let’s hope the Hammers can get this one over the line to follow on from Guilherme and it things will really start to look exciting.
