Fans have been reacting in great numbers to West Ham United’s signing of highly-rated Manchester United striker Ademipo Odubeko.

West Ham announced the signing of the prolific Republic of Ireland Under 17 star on Friday (

Odubeko joins the Hammers after spending his schoolboy years at Manchester United.

West Ham land one of the hottest prospects around

There he made a name for himself as one of the hottest young properties around, scoring 35 goals and netting on his U18 Premier League debut last season.

The powerful centre forward, who turned 17 on Monday, was born and raised in the Republic of Ireland.

The Red Devils had offered Odubeko a new deal but he turned it down to sign for West Ham.

Academy boss backs confident Odubeko

“Mipo signing for West Ham is another really positive story for the Academy,” Academy manager Ricky Martin told

“He is a promising player we are looking forward to working with and this move is a great opportunity for him to join us and continue his journey.”

Odubeko is not short of confidence either – backing himself to shine for the Hammers.

“I’m a goalscorer, I’m quick, and I work hard for my team,” he told

“I always set high expectations for myself, so I’m looking to score a lot of goals for West Ham this season.”
