Sky Sports reporter claims concerned West Ham owners are in discussions over Manuel Pellegrini’s future

Concerned West Ham United owners David Sullivan and David Gold are in discussions over Manuel Pellegrini’s future.

That’s according to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol.

West Ham were comfortably beating Arsenal 1-0 for 55 minutes at the London Stadium on Monday night.

But the Hammers meekly surrendered the lead to lose 3-1 against the worst Arsenal team for generations.

Pellegrini on the brink at West Ham?

West Ham have nosedived from third in the Premier League to the brink of the relegation zone in the last two and a half months.

Pellegrini’s future was already the subject of intense speculation.

A host of managers have been linked as potential replacements at West Ham.

A win at Chelsea last weekend suggested West Ham may have turned a corner.

But all too familiar defeats to Wolves and Arsenal since then have seen Pellegrini once again installed as the favourite to be the next Premier League boss axed.

West Ham fans are deeply unhappy with the club’s owners as well as the manager.

But supporters accept that while a change of ownership is the only thing that will see the club truly move forward, a change of manager may be a necessity to simply stay up.

Speaking on Twitter, Sky Sports reporter Solhekol made a bold claim about the current situation.

“West Ham owners losing faith in manager Manuel Pellegrini,” Solhekol said.

“Discussions ongoing about whether he’s right man for the job.

“Last night’s performance nowhere near good enough.

“They desperately don’t want to have to change managers mid season but real concerns now about performances.”

Bottom three at Christmas a very real possibility

West Ham travel to Southampton on Saturday for a six-pointer.

Defeat at St Mary’s would almost certainly leave West Ham in the relegation zone for Christmas given that the Hammers’ game against Liverpool has been postponed until the new year.

According to Solhekol that would be the catalyst for change.
