West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo sat down for an interview with Sky Sports at the famous Boleyn pub and then suddenly had some major transfer news.
The January transfer window opens in less than two weeks and it has arguably never been so important for West Ham United.
The Hammers are stuck in the Premier League relegation zone facing up to the reality they are in a dogfight to survive that looks certain to go down to the wire.
It is fast becoming a straight shootout between West Ham and Leeds to avoid joining Burnley and Wolves in demotion to the Championship.
With record £100m losses on the way when West Ham publish their annual accounts this month, falling off the Premier League gravy train could not come at a worse time.
January window is last chance saloon for West Ham
The January window at least offers Nuno Espirito Santo a chance to bring in his own players to try and save West Ham from the dreaded drop.
The fixture list also offers the Portuguese some respite too – on paper at least – with the Irons embarking on their most winnable run of fixtures of the season after Christmas Day.
This is shocking! 😰 Relegation is going to be dire for West Ham…
What would YOU do to avoid this mess?
Heading in the window, West Ham’s priority has reportedly been to sign a new striker.
The club has repeatedly made that clear to Hammers News with a host of forwards linked.
Just this week two journalists named the five strikers West Ham have actually enquired about.
A couple of months ago Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol, who gets information from Hammers chief David Sullivan, leaked West Ham’s January transfer plans.

It was claimed that as well as a striker being a priority, the Hammers also want to sign a midfielder and a defender.
Now it seems things may have changed.
Because Sky Sports has made a shock claim about West Ham transfers and Luis Guilherme after a chat with Nuno.
Sky Sports News has been plugging a sit-down interview they have done with the Hammers boss in the famous Boleyn pub.
The Boleyn sits on the corner of Green Street, next to what was home to West Ham’s beloved former stadium Upton Park.
Sky Sports makes shock claim about West Ham transfer priority
After meeting with Nuno for the chat, which will be released over the weekend, Sky Sports News suddenly had some West Ham transfer information to share.
And most significant is that the transfer priorities seem to have shifted.
Niclas Fullkrug is Milan-bound! ✈️ 🇮🇹
What deal would you have been happy with? And who should replace him?
Because according to Sky Sports News, Nuno’s main priority in January is to sign a new winger.
When Nuno was first appointed, Hammers News exclusively revealed West Ham want to sign Adama Traore for their new boss.
Traore has become a bit-part player at Fulham and has played some of his best football under Nuno at Wolves.
The Hammers are an injury to Jarrod Bowen or Crysencio Summerville away from a crisis.

Especially because Nuno does not seem to have faith in £20m Brazilian teen Luis Guilherme.
Tim Steidten’s first signing has failed to establish himself in the 18 months since his arrival from Palmeiras.
Speculation has been rife West Ham are looking to offload Guilherme, who was taken off at half-time of his only start under Nuno at Bournemouth.
With the Hammers looking for a new winger as well as a striker, it is perhaps no surprise the club is trying to find takers for Guilherme.
But following their chat with Nuno, Sky suddenly had news on Guilherme’s future too.
Major Luis Guilherme claim made after Nuno chat
It was claimed on the channel overnight that Guilherme does not want to leave West Ham in January amid links to Portugal and a return to Brazil.
And the young winger has insisted he wants to stay, fight for his place and prove himself to the manager and fans.
That is a great attitude to have and many supporters do not want the club to give up on Guilherme too soon and end up regretting it.
It is all well and good West Ham wanting to sign a new winger, goodness knows the team needs any help it can get.
But it should not be the club’s top priority, as is being claimed. That should still be to sign a powerful, pacy striker – especially with £27m flop on his way out – most likely to AC Milan.
