Up to three Premier League clubs are interested in signing West Ham centre-back Issa Diop on loan according to Sky Sports (Transfer centre, January 19th, 18:46).
Hammers boss David Moyes will be desperate to bring in some new blood this summer.
One area where West Ham are well-stocked, however, is the centre-back department.
We have Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson doing the business at the moment. Fabian Balbuena waiting in the wings, whilst January signing Frederik Alves will be working hard in training to show David Moyes what he’s capable of.
Meanwhile, Issa Diop has hardly had a chance this season.
The Frenchman, signed from Toulouse for £25 million in the summer of 2018 (The Express), has played just 297 Premier League minutes this season.
He has badly regressed over the past 12 months and at the age of 24, that will be a real worry.
West Ham loan exit for Issa Diop?
Sky Sports (Transfer centre, January 19th, 18:46) claims that up to three Premier League clubs are looking to sign the West Ham centre-back on loan.
Loaning out Diop would definitely be the smart option. It would certainly be better than giving up on someone who is clearly a huge talent by selling him.
The opportunity to play regular Premier League football would do the former Toulouse defender the world of good.
As long as it’s the right move for the player, West Ham shouldn’t think twice about sanctioning Diop’s loan exit this month.
Especially if there is a decent fee involved in the deal.
