Sky Italy reporter shares what Gianluca Di Marzio told her about West Ham Darwin Nunez transfer

West Ham are allegedly racing to get a deal to sign Darwin Nunez done before the transfer window deadline at 11pm tonight.

Valentina Fass from Sky Italy has claimed that respected journalist Gianluca Di Marzio just told her that the Hammers are racing to get a deal done for the Uruguayan hitman.

Hammers boss David Moyes desperately needs to get a deal to sign a top-class striker over the line before the January window slams shut.

West Ham eye late transfer agreement for Darwin Nunez

It appears as though Moyes is very keen to bring the 22-year-old hitman to the London Stadium.

Valentina Fass from Sky Italy was speaking to Sky Sports today (January 31st, 11:53 am) and she shared what Gianluca Di Marzio told her about the proposed deal to bring Nunez to the London Stadium:

“Gianluca Di Marzio just told me to tell you that there is a rush against time to try and close a deal by this evening. Time is running out. It will be quite a big deal, €50 million (£42 million) deal but Benfica want a bit more.”

Interesting.

The fact that we are allegedly prepared to pay Benfica £42 million proves that we mean business.

The Uruguayan would be an exceptional addition for West Ham on deadline day. What a transfer this could end up being for the Hammers if we manage to get it over the line.

The Uruguay international has been in fine form in Portugal this season with 20 goals in 25 games for Benfica to his name (Transfermarkt).

Nunez’s playing style is quintessentially South American. He is a tenacious presser, plays with real physicality and has real technical ability. The 22-year-old seems to be ideally suited for the Premier League what with its intense and robust nature.

Whether Moyes is able to get a deal done for Nunez remains to be seen. It seems as though West Ham will have to bid closer to £50 million if we are to have any chance of getting it done and dusted before 11pm tonight.
