Should West Ham go back in for Duvan Zapata in January?

West Ham signed Sebastien Haller for £45 million in the summer.

The Frenchman has struggled playing up front on his own, however, and it is clear to see that he would benefit from playing with a regular partner.

Michail Antonio filled in to great effect against Southampton two weeks ago, but the 29-year-old is a winger by trade, and can’t be relied upon to play through the middle every single game.

So with that in mind, the Hammers should be targeting the signing of another top class forward in January.

And a great option for them would be Atalanta hitman Duvan Zapata.

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini wanted to bring the £45 million-rated Colombian to the London Stadium in the summer, according to Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 28-year-old has been in fine form over the past 18 months, scoring 35 goals in 57 games for Atalanta.

And he would be a truly exceptional signing for West Ham.

Zapata possesses blistering pace, and would offer the Hammers an entirely different threat to the one that Haller gives them.

The Colombia international has fantastic movement, and he would be able to dove-tail perfectly with Haller.

Zapata also seems to be perfectly built for the robust nature of the Premier League. He is strong in possession, and always relishes the physical battle.

£45 million sounds like a lot of money for a 28-year-old, but in this day and age, it would represent decent value for money for West Ham.

And Pellegrini must do everything that he can to bring the Atalanta hitman to the London Stadium in January.
