According to a report from Football.London, there are serious questions over Jack Wilshere’s future at West Ham.
The 28-year-old, who earns £100,000 per week with the Hammers according to Spotrac, joined the Hammers on a free transfer in the summer of 2018.
The former Arsenal man has proven to be a terrible signing for West Ham, however.
Wilshere has made just 16 appearances for the Hammers in 20 months, racking up just one goal and one assist in the process (Transfermarkt).
And he has made only eight appearances for the east London outfit this season (Transfermarkt).
Claret and Hugh actually claimed earlier this week that West Ham are struggling to offload the 34-capped England international, even on a free transfer.
It is a real shame. On his day, Wilshere was a truly wonderful footballer. But injuries have completely ruined his development and progression during the past five years or so.
And Football.London have now claimed that the 28-year-old faces a bleak future in east London.
Considering his enormous wages, it would be prudent for West Ham to move him on as soon as possible.
Freeing up some funds on the wage-bill should help the Hammers sufficiently strengthen in the summer.
Wilshere has made next to no impact since joining West Ham. It might sound harsh, but there will not be many Hammers fans who disagree with that sentiment.
