West Ham are allegedly in the market to sign Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson this summer.
90 min claimed earlier this week that the Hammers are lining up a move for the £50 million hitman.
That alleged move has been thrown into doubt this morning, however.
Well-respected West Ham website Claret and Hugh claims that the Hammers have serious doubts about the 27-year-old’s injury record.
Wilson enjoyed a fine campaign last season, racking up 15 goals and 10 assists in 33 appearances for the Cherries.
He has suffered horrendous luck with injuries over the past two or three years, however, and spending £50 million on him would be a huge risk for West Ham.
And Claret and Hugh claims that because of this, he is currently behind Gomez, Salomon Rondon and Aleksandar Mitrovic on the Hammers’ list of priorities.
The Bournemouth ace is a proven Premier League striker. There is surely better value to be had out there for West Ham this summer, however.
Even if they fail to land number one target Maxi Gomez.
And it might just be the prudent play for West Ham to avoid a move for Wilson this summer.
Quite who Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini will target instead, however, remains to be seen.
