According to Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg (Live Transfer Blog, 13:35), West Ham, are trying to sign Barcelona starlet Moussa Wague.
The 21-year-old joined Barca from KAS Eupen in the summer of 2018 for a fee believed to be worth £4.5 million (Daily Mail).
And the right-back has a staggering £90 million release clause inserted into his contract with the Catalan giants, according to the Daily Mail.
The Hammers really need to strengthen in the right-back department. Pablo Zabaleta is well past his best, and is leaving in the summer.
Ryan Fredericks, meanwhile, is currently out injured, and has been far from impressive during his first 18 months at the London Stadium.
And the Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg has claimed that West Ham are in for a right-back and are keen on Barcelona’s Moussa Wague.
Good signing for the Hammers?
The 21-year-old Senegalese ace has hardly played for Barca this season. He has just three appearances to his name for the La Liga giants (Transfermarkt), but he is a real talent nonetheless.
He has averaged two tackles per game in those three outings this season (Who Scored).
And he is obviously highly rated at Barcelona, considering the fact that they allegedly inserted a £90 million release clause into his contract.
Soccersouls.com summed Wague up perfectly in their scouting report of the Barca starlet, describing him as a ‘tenacious full-back with a nice blend of defensive solidity and attacking threat to the opposition’.
Whether West Ham want him on loan or on a permanent deal is not stipulated by the Guardian. But either way, the Senegal international would be a very exciting addition for the east London outfit if they do in fact manage to prise him away from the Camp Nou on deadline day.
