Report: West Ham want to sign Abdoulaye Toure in January

According to a report from Football Insider, West Ham are interested in signing Nantes midfielder Abdoulaye Toure in January.

The Hammers have real problems in central midfield. Their play is slow and laboured through the middle of the park, and they lack any kind of dynamism and power.

Declan Rice does a fine job. Mark Noble is not getting any younger, however, and Manuel Pellegrini has little in reserve.

And Toure really would be a great addition.

The 25-year-old is an absolute powerhouse.

At 6ft 2in tall, the Frenchman is an imposing figure and he is a real athlete. Toure is built perfectly for the Premier League and he would add some much needed steel, tenacity and dynamism to West Ham’s meek engine room.

Nantes are prepared to sell the midfielder, according to Football Insider. And there is no shortage of potential suitors for his signature.

His alleged preference is to move to the Premier League, however.

French publication L’Equipe claimed in the summer that Nantes could be prepared to sell Toure for just £10.1 million. And in today’s day and age, that would represent excellent value for money for West Ham.
