West Ham striker Javier Hernandez could be sold this summer. According to ESPN, West Ham are willing to sell Chicharito for between £8m and £12m this summer.

Hernandez has revealed that he is open to leaving West Ham during an interview with Diego Dreyfus on YouTube. And West Ham will allow him to leave for the right price to raise funds for his replacement.

Chicharito’s availability has alerted a number of clubs. According to this report by ESPN, Premier League teams have been looking at him. Hernandez also has interest from the MLS, La Liga and Serie A.

But the Mexico international’s preference is a return to Spain. He has been linked with Valencia this summer and £8m could be enough for the La Liga side to land their man (The Sun). However, ESPN adds that the diminutive striker has not ruled out extending his West Ham contract.

Hernandez joined West Ham two years ago under Slaven Bilic. He has scored 16 goals in two seasons, which is a respectable but unspectacular goal tally.

This is now the right time to part ways with Hernandez. The 31-year-old is entering the final years of his playing career and West Ham will not have a better chance of getting a decent fee for him.

Moreover, he does not exactly fit Manuel Pellegrini’s style of play as a lone striker. Hernandez is a very useful impact substitute but his hefty wages suggest that the money is better spent elsewhere.
