According to a report from Goal, West Ham are interested in signing Reims defender Axel Disasi, although Arsenal have already made an approach for the £13m man.

Hammers boss David Moyes might just be looking to bolster his central defensive ranks this summer.

Fabian Balbuena has been unconvincing this season. Issa Diop, meanwhile, has been linked with an exit from east London.

Gunners manager Mikel Arteta will be desperate to strengthen his central defensive department as well.

Arsenal have been incredibly fragile at the back this season.

And Goal claims that Arteta could make a move to address that issue by signing Reims ace Disasi. In fact, the north London club have allegedly already made an approach to sign him. It is also claimed that West Ham want the young Frenchman as well.

Stats

The 22-year-old has made 52 senior appearances for Reims, scoring two goals in the process. He is also a France under-20 international (Transfermarkt).

In 27 Ligue 1 outings this season, Disasi has averaged 1.2 tackles, one interception, 3.6 clearances and 0.9 blocks per game. He has also won an average of 2.8 aerial duals per game during those appearances (Who Scored).

The French starlet seems to have a lot of talent. He is not the easiest on the eye when in possession, however, and like his name suggests he does have the odd disastrous error in his locker.

Standing at 6ft 3in tall though, he is very strong in the air.

And for just £13 million, the 22-year-old would surely be a useful addition for either West Ham or Arsenal.

But it remains to be seen which Premier League side wins the race for Disasi’s signature.
