Due to the global health crisis, West Ham boss David Moyes will have to be extremely frugal with his player recruitment this summer.
So in order to splash the cash, he might be forced into selling some of his star players to boost his transfer kitty.
And the Telegraph claims that Felipe Anderson, Manuel Lanzini and Issa Diop could all attract bids at the end of this season.
Trio could be sold
Anderson was signed from Lazio for £42 million in the summer of 2018 (The Guardian). Lanzini, meanwhile, was brought to east London for around £9 million in 2016 (Daily Mail), having spent the previous season on loan with the club. And Issa Diop was signed for £22 million for Toulouse in the summer of 2018 (BBC).
It would surely take a huge bid to tempt West Ham into selling either the Brazilian or the Frenchman. But the Argentine might be viewed as dispensable, considering his woeful form this season.
Quite how much the Hammers could expect to receive for any of the three players mentioned is unclear.
But their valuations will have undoubtedly decreased because of the global health crisis. In truth, all three players have been underwhelming this season. And if the price is right, it might just be wise to move them on.
If Moyes is forced into selling Anderson, Lanzini and Diop, he absolutely must replace them sufficiently.
And the funds given to the Scotsman will be a great indicator as to how much ambition David Gold and David Sullivan have to actually take the club forward.
