According to a report from Football Insider, West Ham are set to submit a bid in excess of £10 million for Genk midfielder Sander Berge today.
The Hammers are desperately short in central midfield.
They lack any kind of pace, power, dynamism and physicality. And Berge would certainly bring all of those attributes to West Ham.
Football Insider claims that the Hammers will submit an offer in excess of £10 million today for Berge after Genk announced the signing of midfielder Kristian Thorstvedt.
Good signing for West Ham?
This would be one that Hammers fans can get really excited about.
Standing at 6ft 4in tall, Berge is a really classy operator. At 21, he has plenty of years left ahead fo him in the game, and could very well go on to become a true superstar.
Berge has already received 20 international caps for Norway – quite some feat considering his tender years.
The young Genk ace is a real powerhouse. He plays in a similar style to Nemanja Matic in his prime, but he is arguably even better with the ball than the Serbian ever was.
Berge has a great eye for goal, with four to his name already this season, despite playing in defensive midfield.
He would be able to forge a superb partnership with Declan Rice in West Ham’s engine room – one that could last for the best part of a decade.
The Norwegian would add a real level of solidarity to the Hammers’ defensive play, and if they can get him for around £10 million, it really would have to be considered as excellent business for the east London outfit.
