Former Premier League striker Odion Ighalo claims he has offers to return to England.
Ex-Watford man Ighalo is open to a Premier League return and he has options, he told Brila. He will weigh up his options ahead of the January transfer window.
Ighalo on Premier League interest
West Ham target Ighalo told Brila: “There are always speculations about me, and truly I have offers from the Premier League, but I also have a two-year contract with Shanghai and am happy here.
“The Premier League is the best in the world and, of course, I would love to go back, with Watford or any other team it could happen, but I have a contract with Shanghai and we’ll see how it goes.”
Who wants Ighalo?
Ighalo seems to be a man in-demand this January. Shanghai SIPG are reportedly ready to let him leave China on loan with an option to buy as six Premier League clubs circle, according to TEAMtalk.
West Ham and Ighalo’s former club Watford are two of them. The other four are Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Everton. Ighalo is likely to have options and he will be a cheap target.
The Nigeria international has scored 10 goals in 17 Chinese Super League games this season. He previously had one prolific season at Vicarage Road in the Premier League.
West Ham only have Sebastien Haller, Albian Ajeti and Michail Antonio as their strikers. The first two are struggling to score goals and Antonio’s preferred position is on the wing. Moreover, Antonio is returning from an injury.
This could prompt the board to sign Ighalo. And with the 30-year-old available on loan, this sounds just like the sort of thing West Ham would do.
