Report: West Ham still paying close attention to possibility of signing Krzysztof Piatek

According to a report from Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato, West Ham remain ‘vigilant’ regarding the prospect of signing Krzysztof Piatek from AC Milan this month.

The Hammers desperately need another established striker to provide more competition for the misfiring Sebastien Haller.

Italian website Sport Mediaset reported earlier this month that West Ham were leading the race to sign the £25 million-rated hitman.

And ExWHUemployee backed up those claims, suggesting that the east London outfit have performed several scouring missions on the Poland international.

And now Calcio Mercato have revisited the story, claiming that both West Ham and Tottenham are ‘vigilantly’ watching Piatek.

There is a problem, however.

The Sun claims that the AC Milan striker only wants to join a club who are participating in the Champions League.

If true, it would obviously rule out the Hammers. And that would be a real shame.

The 24-year-old has struggled with Milan this season, scoring just five goals, but that isn’t to say that he doesn’t still have a lot to offer at the very highest level.

The Polish striker scored 30 goals in 42 games for Milan and Genoa last season, so he obviously has what it takes to succeed.

West Ham fans will be pleased to hear reports that their club is still monitoring Piatek.

Unfortunately for the Hammers, however, it seems as though they will have no chance of signing the Milan ace, judging by the recent report suggesting that Champions League football is a prerequisite for any move away from the San Siro.
