West Ham officials will fly out to Turkey to seal a transfer deal. According to Turkish media outlet Fanatik, West Ham representatives will travel to Turkey this week in order to finalise the signing of Hasan Ali Kaldirim.
The Hammers are ready to trigger his €5m (£4.5m) release clause. And they want to agree on personal terms to get this deal over the line quickly.
BBC Sport first broke this transfer story last week (Monday 3rd June). The Fenerbahce defender could be set for a move to West Ham for a bargain price with negotiations due to take place this week.
Where would Hasan Ali Kaldirim fit in at West Ham?
If Kaldirim arrives at West Ham, that could lead to the departure of one of the two left-backs currently on West Ham’s books. Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku share the left-back duties but one might be forced to leave.
Alternatively, Manuel Pellegrini might keep all three. Some fans believe Masuaku would make a better winger than left-back. Kaldirim’s arrival could push Masuaku further up the field.
Kaldirim is the current captain of Fenerbahce and he has plenty of experience in Turkey. And he recently played a starring role in shackling Kylian Mbappe and leading Turkey to a shock 2-0 win over France.
The 29-year-old is clearly a talented player and this could be worth a risk for the Irons. At just £4.5m, this would be a low-cost gamble for Pellegrini this summer.
