According to a report from Football Insider, West Ham could attempt to sell Andriy Yarmolenko in the summer, but they accept it will be for a massive loss.
The 86-capped Ukraine international joined the Hammers from Borussia Dortmund for around £17.5 million in the summer of 2018, according to the Evening Standard.
Yarmolenko has really struggled to establish himself at the London Stadium, however. Sure, injuries have played their part, but even when the 30-year-old has been fully fit, he just hasn’t looked suited to the intense nature of the Premier League.
The former Dortmund attacker has racked up just five goals and two assists in 25 appearances for West Ham (Transfermarkt).
The 6ft 2in Hammers man is often found wanting in possession, and he possesses absolutely no pace whatsoever.
Football Insider claims that West Ham want to cut their losses on Yarmolenko in the summer, and are ready to listen to offers for the Ukrainian.
Moving Yarmo on is the right decision
The experienced front-man has produced some extremely underwhelming numbers during his time with the Hammers.
In 24 Premier League games, the 30-year-old has a shooting accuracy percentage of just 41%. He has chalked up just one assist and has created only seven big chances (premierleague.com).
Yarmolenko has also shown real signs of regression since returning from his recent serious injury. And he is out injured once again at the moment.
Moving him on will be the right call. Even if it means recouping just a fraction the fee that they paid Dortmund for his services 18 months ago.
