According to a report from FC Inter News, West Ham boss David Moyes has given the green light for a €20 million (£17 million) bid for Inter Milan-owned hitman Gabriel Barbosa.
The Brazilian striker was on fire whilst on loan with Flamengo over the past 12 months.
Barbosa, commonly known as ‘Gabigol’, banged in 34 goals in 41 appearances for the Brazilian outfit, and he proved that he is one of the most exciting young talents in world football.
And he is exactly the kind of player who West Ham need.
FC Inter News claims that the Hammers are ready to make a £17 million offer for Gabigol after receiving the go-ahead from David Moyes.
Surely West Ham will have to up their offer if they want to land the South American, however.
Calcio Mercato claimed last week that Inter want around €30 million (£25 million) for Barbosa.
And West Ham fans could be forgiven for thinking that this is once again another ploy from the club’s owners to make it look like they at least tried to bring in an exciting talent.
Hammers co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold have history of making derogatory offers for players, so it looks like they are trying to strengthen the squad, when in fact they know their offers will be rejected.
Let’s hope this is not the same thing with Barbosa.
