The Hammers were first linked with a 10 million DKK (£1.2 million) move to sign the 20-year-old last month (Danish website Bold).

And, according to a report from Danish media outlet BT, West Ham are now very close to signing the Silkeborg centre-back.

Silkeborg director Kent Madsen suggested that Alves’s transfer to the London Stadium was a mere formality, when speaking to Midtjyllands Avis.

But it seems as though there could now be a problem on the horizon for the Hammers.

Calcio Mercato claims that Torino could attempt to hijack West Ham’s proposed move to sign Alves.

The Hammers need to get their affairs in order. We absolutely cannot miss out on the young Dane. The 20-year-old is a real talent, and although nothing is guaranteed, he has all the makings of a top class defender.

Alves, who stands at 6ft 3in tall, has already made 50 senior appearances for Silkeborg (Transfermarkt).

He is a powerful and aerially commanding centre-back. The Danish youngster seems to have all of the attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League. And he would be a very interesting and exciting signing for West Ham.

Let’s just hope that we don’t mess this one up.

Alves could be a cracking signing. And we could end up regretting missing out on him if Torino win the race for his signature.
