According to a report from Italian media outlet Corriere Della Sera, West Ham are monitoring Krzysztof Piatek’s situation at AC Milan following the recent arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The 24-year-old joined Milan from Genoa in January 2019 for around £31 million, according to Sky Sports.

The Hammers were actually credited with an interest in signing the Poland international this time last year (Football.London), but the east London outfit refused to meet his asking price.

Piatek has struggled at the San Siro, however, with just 15 goals in 39 appearances to his name.

Corriere Della Sera claims that West Ham are keeping a close eye on his situation, and could make a move for the Pole, if he does indeed become available.

Would be a wise move

The Hammers could really do with someone like Piatek at the London Stadium.

Sebastien Haller has struggled to establish himself since his £45 million switch from Eintracht Frankfurt, and he desperately needs more competition.

Piatek is a big and strong centre-forward, and seems to be ideally built for the robust nature of the Premier League.

Having Haller and the AC Milan forward playing up front together would give West Ham an entirely different look to their attacking setup. And defenders would surely not relish coming up against them.

The Hammers should certainly enquire about Piatek’s availability at the very least. Despite his recent struggles for Milan, he could still be a very useful addition for the east London outfit.
