According to a report from Football.London, West Ham midfielder Carlos Sanchez turned down moves to Turkey and Spain in order to fight for his place at the London Stadium.

The 33-year-old joined the Hammers from Fiorentina in the summer of 2018, for a fee believed to be worth £3.8 million (Viola Nation).

He has been nothing short of a total disaster for West Ham, however.

Sanchez, an 88-capped Colombia international, has made just 17 appearances for the Hammers. And he has failed to register either a goal or an assist during those outings (Transfermarkt).

In 13 Premier League games for West Ham, the midfielder has made just five tackles and three interceptions. He has also won just 13 out of 30 duals with opponents (premierleague.com).

The former Aston Villa man has proven to be an absolute liability for the east London outfit. In truth, he doesn’t look good enough to play non-league football. And it beggars belief that West Ham actually signed him in the first place.

Football.London claims that the Hammers tried to flog Sanchez in January, but the player turned down two separate chances to move abroad in order to fight for his place at the club.

Unfortunately for the 33-year-old, however, there is so surely no chance of that happening. The midfielder, who earns £50,000 per week according to Spotrac, is out of contract with West Ham in the summer.

And surely then his time in east London will come to an end.

It’s just a shame the Hammers couldn’t shift him last month. Because he offers them absolutely nothing.
