Report: West Ham linked with summer move for Brentford hitman Ollie Watkins

According to a report from the Sun, West Ham are plotting a summer move for Brentford striker Ollie Watkins.

The Hammers desperately need to bolster their attacking ranks before the start of next season.

They brought in Sebastien Haller and Albian Ajeti last summer, but that was after getting rid of five attackers.

Marko Arnautovic, Javier Hernandez, Lucas Perez and Andy Carroll all left on permanent deals, whilst Jordan Hugill was loaned out.

The Sun claims that West Ham could attempt to rectify that issue by bringing Brentford hitman Ollie Watkins to the London Stadium in the summer.

Would be a great signing

The 24-year-old has been in brilliant form for the Bees this season, with 22 goals in 36 Championship outings to his name (Who Scored).

The Sun suggest that Watkins has been a sensation since joining Brentford in 2017. And that statement is very hard to argue against.

In 36 league outings this season, the striker has averaged 2.6 shots on goal per game, and he has won an average of two aerial duals per match. Watkins has also averaged 0.7 dribbles and 1.5 key passes per game during that period (Who Scored).

Along with his goals, he is clearly an all-round threat, and would be an exceptional addition for West Ham.

Sky Sports claim that Brentford value the 24-year-old at around £20 million. And in this day and age, that would represent excellent value for money for the Hammers.
