Fenerbahce defender Hasan Ali Kalidirm reportedly wants to move to England. According to Turkish media outlet Aksam, Kaldirim is flattered by West Ham’s interest and he is eager to make the switch this summer.
Kaldirim, who plays at left-back, was first linked with West Ham earlier this week. That report came from BBC Sport, who claims he has a €5m (just under £4.5m) release clause.
West Ham’s interest has now been backed up in Turkey. Kaldirim believes this opportunity is too good to pass up at this stage of his career and wants to move to London.
Who is Hasan Ali Kaldirim?
Kaldirim is a left-back who could replace Aaron Cresswell or Arthur Masuaku if he moves to West Ham. The 29-year-old is experienced in the Turkish Super Lig, having played more than 220 top-flight games in Turkey.
The Turkey international also has 30 caps to his name and spent some time in Germany (the country of his birth) with Kaiserslautern and Mainz’s second-string sides.
Kaldirim is the captain of Fenerbahce at the moment but he could leave after a lacklustre season. West Ham wait in the wings despite some suggestions that Manuel Pellegrini is not thinking about the left-back situation.
With the player keen on the move, West Ham could take a low-cost punt on Kaldirim. For less than £5m, he might provide a solution at left-back.
