West Ham are one of the clubs interested in signing Nemanja Radoja. According to TEAMtalk, Radoja is closing in on a move to England with West Ham battling two other clubs for his signature.
Brighton & Hove Albion – who drew 1-1 with West Ham on Saturday – also want Radoja. And Leeds United are also keen on the Serbia international, who is available on a free transfer.
Radoja is a free agent after leaving Celta Vigo this summer. He did not play last season but made more than 100 appearances during his five-year stay with the Spanish club.
Nemanja Radoja: The right fit?
West Ham desperately need another defensive midfielder to compete with Declan Rice and provide cover. Currently, the only alternative is Carlos Sanchez, who is below the standard required to push on.
Radoja would be a risk given his lack of playing time in recent times. But if he can prove his fitness, the 26-year-old might be the right fit. On a free transfer, it is a low-risk transfer that could be worth the gamble.
West Ham would have to move one of their overseas players on if Radoja joins, though. The Hammers have reached their full capacity of foreign players so Manuel Pellegrini needs to look at shipping one of his fringe players in the European market.
Getting Sanchez out and bringing in Radoja would be an interesting gamble. Radoja could be a cheap secret weapon for West Ham if he can reach the heights he did during his prime at Celta.
