West Ham and Leicester are leading the race to sign Roma ace Amadou Diawara according to a report from Forza Roma. That’s in spite of the fact that the midfielder is allegedly besotted with Arsenal.
Hammers boss David Moyes will undoubtedly be keen to bolster his central midfield ranks at the London Stadium in January.
The Scot needs to bring in more quality competition and cover for Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.
And Forza Roma suggest that West Ham could look to solve that particular squad deficiency by signing Roma ace Amadou Diawara.
It is suggested that the 23-year-old defensive midfielder would cost around £22.3 million (Forza Roma).
Now, this is exactly the kind of signing the Hammers should be looking to make.
Diawara, who earns £55k-a-week according to Sportekz, is an incredibly energetic, ball winning midfielder. The 23-year-old has stamina and pace to burn. And he seems to have all of the qualities needed to succeed in the Premier League what with the intense nature of his playing style.
Despite Forza Roma claiming that Diawara really likes Arsenal, the Gunners should not be a problem. They have only recently splashed out £45 million on Thomas Partey. So it is unlikely that they will attempt to sign another defensive midfielder.
And we really should be busting a gut to sign the Roma ace.
In 22 league games for the Serie A outfit last season, the 23-year-old averaged 1.8 tackles and 1.5 interceptions per game. He also averaged 45.4 passes per match with a massively impressive completion rate of 88.9 % (Who Scored).
And if West Ham can pick Diawara up for around £22 million, it would be truly sensational business for the east London outfit.
