Manuel Pellegrini has identified Aissa Mandi as a West Ham target, according to reports.
The Express claims that Real Betis defender Mandi is attracting attention from East London. West Ham tried to sign Mandi last year and could revisit this deal in the January transfer window.
Mandi is a defender who has been on Pellegrini’s radar for quite a while. After failing to bring him in during past windows, Pellegrini might prompt the Hammers board into landing his main target.
Who is Aissa Mandi?
Mandi is a versatile central defender. His primary position is in central defence, meaning he would compete with Issa Diop, Angelo Ogbonna and Fabian Balbuena at West Ham.
But the Algeria international can also play on either side. At left-back, Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku share the duties. At right-back, Ryan Fredericks is the first-choice with Pablo Zabaleta and Ben Johnson in reserve.
Mandi is currently with Betis. Since his 2016 move from Stade Reims, the 27-year-old has played 116 games (and scored five goals), including five matches this season.
Prior to his move to Spain, Mandi played 169 games for Reims in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2. The France-born defender could now test himself in England with West Ham weighing up a move.
