West Ham’s search for a central midfielder is ongoing and numerous players have been linked. According to La Provence, Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson is a West Ham target.
Marseille failed to qualify for Europe this season after a fifth-place finish in Ligue 1. Consequently, the French side might need to sell some players to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
This report mentions that British scouts have watched Sanson. Tottenham are named as a potential suitor but West Ham are interested ‘in particular’. However, West Ham are not the only club chasing Sanson.
Who is Morgan Sanson?
Sanson plays in central midfield for Marseille. The 24-year-old previously played for Le Mans and Montpellier and joined Marseille in January 2017.
The former France U21 international played 37 games for Marseille last season, scoring five times and providing four assists. This took his total Marseille tally to 18 goals and 14 assists in 108 matches.
Having previously played 29 times for Le Mans and over 100 times for Montpellier, Sanson is experienced in the French leagues. But he could now leave with some Premier League clubs watching him.
West Ham need a new central midfielder. Manuel Pellegrini knows this is a priority position and Sanson is a potential solution in this department.
