According to a report from the Express, West Ham were very impressed with Bruno Henrique’s performance against Liverpool in the Fifa Club World Cup final on Saturday, and see him as a player who could make an immediate impact at the club in January.
90Min claimed last week that the Hammers planned to scout the 28-year-old Brazilian against the Reds on Saturday.
Henrique was on fire for Flamengo this season. He racked up 26 goals and nine assists in 46 appearances for the Brazilian side.
And he would be an exceptional addition for West Ham.
The Express claims that the Hammers scouts were impressed with what they saw on Saturday night. And West Ham officials believe that he is the sort of player who can make an immediate impact in January.
The Flamengo ace is electric when in possession. He possesses blistering pace, has great technique, and would be a real difference maker for the Hammers in the final third.
The only concern will be that the South American is a tad lightweight. And he could struggle to adapt to the physicality of the Premier League.
Having said that, Henrique is still worth a gamble.
He has the ability to excite the West Ham fans. And that is something that hasn’t really happened since the days of Dimitri Payet.
Whether the Hammers can agree a fee with Flamengo for the winger, however, remains to be seen.
