According to a report from the Telegraph, West Ham have looked at the possibility of signing Nice midfielder Adrien Tameze on loan this month.
The Hammers desperately lack any kind of dynamism and energy in the middle of the park, and the 25-year-old Cameroonian would bring that in abundance.
The Telegraph claims that a plethora of Premier League clubs including Sheffield United and Aston Villa want to sign Tameze. And Patrick Vieira is willing to let him leave on loan this month.
It is suggested that West Ham have looked at the Nice midfielder too, but the Blades are in more of a rush to get a deal for the 25-year-old done this month.
In truth, the Hammers should be prioritising a move for someone like Tameze.
His energy and dynamism would compliment Declan Rice perfectly. And the duo could forge a superb partnership over the next five or six years.
If West Ham were to sign the Nice ace, however, they would need to ensure that it is on loan with an obligation to buy. There would be no point in just loaning him for six months. They need to find a solution to what could become a long-term problem, with Noble set to turn 33 before the end of this current campaign.
Tameze is exactly the kind of player the Hammers need. And if he is available as has been claimed, David Moyes should not hesitate to bring him to the London Stadium this month.
