West Ham goalkeeper Roberto could reportedly be axed as soon as the January transfer window.

According to The Mirror, West Ham are considering selling Roberto in January. The Spaniard has been a major flop since joining on a free transfer in the summer and he could be sold.

There is a split in the camp, though. Mario Husillos believes Roberto is the right man for the job. West Ham’s Director of Football was responsible for bringing him to East London – one year after trying to sign him ahead of Lukasz Fabianski.

But Husillos appears to be alone in his admiration for Roberto. After a string of error-prone displays, West Ham’s hierarchy could sell Roberto against Husillos’ wishes.

Roberto came in to replace Adrian as Fabianski’s back-up goalkeeper. There were early warning signs when he conceded four against Oxford United after struggling in pre-season.

And since Fabianski’s injury against Bournemouth, West Ham have not won a single game. In his last six starts, Roberto has conceded 15 goals. It could be time for David Martin after the international break.

Roberto has been at fault for a number of the goals West Ham have conceded during this disappointing run. The worst of all of those goals came last weekend against Burnley. The 33-year-old came out for a cross and somehow managed to punch it into his own net.

With Roberto spreading his nervousness to the outfield players, it has to be time for a change. Many West Ham fans will be relieved to hear he could be sold in January.
