Report: West Ham eyeing summer swoop for former Aston Villa ace Jordan Amavi

According to a report from Il Milanista, West Ham are interested in signing former Aston Villa star Jordan Amavi this summer.

The 27-year-old left the Villans to join Marseille on loan in the summer of 2017 before making his move to the Stade Velodrome a permanent one the following year for around £9 million (ESPN).

Hammers boss David Moyes will be keen to bolster his left-back options at the London Stadium this summer.

Aaron Cresswell has really impressed this season. Most of his good work has come in the final third, however.

The 31-year-old has been found wanting defensively at times this term. And a younger upgrade may well be on the cards.

West Ham plotting Jordan Amavi swoop?

Il Milanista claims that the Hammers are chasing the 27-year-old former Aston Villa ace.

The Marseille man is an attack-minded full-back. He has transformed himself into one of France’s most exciting left-backs over the past two years.

In 11 Ligue 1 outings this season, Amavi has averaged one tackle, 2.4 interceptions, 2.4 clearances and 0.9 dribbles per game (Who Scored).

The Frenchman is a very solid operator. His struggles during his time at Villa Park will surely be a red flag for West Ham, however.

It must be said that injuries wreaked havoc during Amavi’s spell with Aston Villa though.

Signing Amavi seems like a move that we should all get behind if it happens.

The Frenchman would provide strong competition for Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku.

And if Marseille are willing to sell the former Villa ace for a reasonable fee this summer, it will be somewhat of a no-brainer for West Ham.
