Stuttgart defender Ozan Kabak is the latest player linked with a move to West Ham. According to The Guardian, West Ham are one of the teams in the race for Kabak.
Bayern Munich reportedly lead the race for Kabak. He only joined Stuttgart in January after leaving Galatasaray. But after Stuttgart were relegated, he could leave.
The teenage defender has a €15m (£13.3m) release clause in his contract. With Stuttgart set to play in the Bundesliga 2, Kabak is likely to leave with West Ham among the potential suitors.
Where would Ozan Kabak fit in at West Ham?
Kabak is a highly-rated young defender. Despite his young age, the 19-year-old played 17 Bundesliga matches after joining Stuttgart in January. And his eye-catching displays earned him the Bundesliga rookie of the season award.
The Turkey U18 international played 18 Galatasaray games before his move to Stuttgart. And he can offer some first-team experience to go with his youth.
If he joins West Ham, Kabak would be competing with several top central defenders. Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena will be tough to replace in the starting line-up.
But Kabak’s arrival could lead to Winston Reid or Angelo Ogbonna departing. Manuel Pellegrini might want to replace the veteran centre-backs with a younger player like Kabak.
For a £13.3m outlay, West Ham could have a long-term centre-back on their books. Kabak is an exciting talent with the potential to become a future star.
