According to a report from the Sun, West Ham want to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s Layvin Kurzawa this month, and the Frenchman could cost just £6 million.
The Hammers are desperately short in the left-back department.
Aaron Cresswell completely lacks any kind of pace and is unreliable from a fitness perspective. Arthur Masuaku, meanwhile, is a totally incompetent defender and calling him inconsistent would be an understatement.
And the Sun claims that West Ham view Kurzawa as the ideal solution to their problems.
He is allegedly available for just £6 million – an absolute snip in the current market, in spite of the fact that he is out of contract in the summer.
The Hammers have an issue, however
Arsenal are also keen on the three-time Ligue 1 winning left-back, and his agent is pushing him towards the Emirates, according to French publication RMC Sport.
Tempting the PSG ace into moving to West Ham over Arsenal will be tricky, especially considering the east London outfit’s current predicament.
And that is a shame, because Kurzawa would be a real upgrade on both Cresswell and Masuaku.
The Hammers should not give up, however. And perhaps the guarantee of regular first-team football could be enough to turn the tables in their favour.
