The Frenchman is allegedly tempted by the prospect of receiving a signing bonus as a free agent.
Hammers boss David Moyes wants to sign the Chelsea striker in January according to a report from Calcio Mercato.
The Scot will undoubtedly be on the look-out for an established centre-forward to help provide more support and cover for Michail Antonio and Sebastien Haller.

Sempre Inter recently claimed that Giroud may be available for just €5 million (£4.4 million) in January.
It is now suggested that West Ham may well be able to sign the French World Cup winner for free, however…if we are prepared to wait six months.
Le 10 Sport claims that the 34-year-old is attracted by the prospect of leaving Chelsea for nothing in the summer.
Still a key man in west London
Frank Lampard recently suggested that the Frenchman is still a key part of his plans, however. And his sensational four goal display in the Champions League vs Sevilla last night underlined his importance to the Blues.
It remains to be seen where he will be plying his trade next season, however.

Giroud is a very solid striker albeit not world-class. The former Arsenal man could undoubtedly do a job for West Ham for one or two seasons, however.
The 34-year-old has scored 216 goals in 529 club games throughout his career. There probably aren’t any better forwards than Giroud in the air and Sebastien Haller would undoubtedly learn a lot from the Chelsea ace.
If the Hammers can sign Giroud for free in the summer it seems like a no brainer for David Moyes. The Frenchman could make a big impact at the London Stadium.
And if Moyes manages to prise him away from Stamford Bridge, it could end up being a real coup for West Ham.
