According to a report from the Sun, West Ham could go back in for Barcelona right-back Moussa Wague in the summer.
The Guardian claimed via their Live Transfer Blog on Friday (January 31st, 16:52), that the Hammers walked away from a potential deal to sign the 21-year-old on deadline day due to concerns over potential work permit issues.
West Ham desperately need a new right-back with Pablo Zabaleta leaving in the summer and Ryan Fredericks having failed to impress since moving to the London Stadium in the summer of 2018.
And the Sun claims that the Hammers are set to keep tabs on Wague, after he ended up joining Nice on loan for the rest of the season.
The British tabloid claims that the 14-capped Senegal international could be available for £16 million in the summer.
The right man for West Ham?
Wague has only made three appearances for Barcelona this season, so it is hard to judge him. And perhaps he will get more game-time in France with Nice over the next few months.
In those three outings, the 21-year-old made six tackles, two interceptions and three clearances (Who Scored).
The Senegalese starlet has also attempted 92 passes in those games, with an impressive success rate of 87% (Who Scored).
He is obviously still very young and inexperienced, but he will surely improve with age.
Wague is described as being a tenacious defender, with a nice blend of defensive solidarity and attacking threat by Soccer Souls.
And if West Ham could pick him up for £16 million in the summer, it would be fantastic business for them.
