West Ham could turn to another former Millwall goalkeeper to solve their crisis between the sticks.

According to The Guardian, Jordan Archer is a goalkeeper target for West Ham. The Hammers are weighing up free agent stoppers to sign and Archer is one of the only ones around.

Archer is without a club after leaving Millwall at the end of last season. Millwall lost both of their first-choice goalkeepers with David Martin making the move from The New Den to The London Stadium.

Archer to replace Roberto?

West Ham signed Martin and Spanish goalkeeper Roberto to replace Adrian. But with Lukasz Fabianski injured, Roberto has had to play and his calamitous performances have coincided with West Ham plummeting down the league table.

Roberto’s form has forced West Ham to look at other free agent goalkeepers. Archer is the latest one on the list and he could reunite with Martin at West Ham if he joins.

The once-capped Scotland international played over 150 games for Millwall after joining in 2015. He came through the ranks at Tottenham Hotspur and now he is looking for a new club. West Ham could be his next home.

But the main concern here is that Martin was preferred to Archer at the end of last season. The 26-year-old lost his place to Martin, who has not even been trusted to replace the hapless Roberto.

Is Archer really the answer? Probably not.
