West Ham have had a loan bid for Chelsea ace Emerson Palmieri knocked back according to a report from the Mirror.

The Hammers’ main focus will be to sign a new striker before the end of the transfer window.

David Moyes would surely like to add a new left-back / left wing back to his ranks at the London Stadium as well, however.

Arthur Masuaku is out for the foreseeable future after undergoing knee surgery in December.

Aaron Cresswell, meanwhile, needs more competition and cover aside from the youthful Ben Johnson.

West Ham loan bid for Chelsea star Emerson Palmieri rejected

The Mirror claims that West Ham have attempted to bring Chelsea ace Emerson Palmieri to East London on loan.

The Blues swiftly rejected our approach for the Italy international, however.

Frank Lampard allegedly wants to keep the 26-year-old at Stamford Bridge as cover for Ben Chilwell with so many important matches coming up for Chelsea.

Whether West Ham will go back in for Palmieri or not remains to be seen.

The Italian would have been a fine short-term loan addition for David Moyes.

The former Roma ace, who earns £75k-a-week according to Spotrac, is an attacking left wing-back in every sense. Similarly to Masuaku, he isn’t the best defensively, but is great going forward.

The Chelsea star would add some real depth to our left-back / left wing-back options.

West Ham shouldn’t give up on just yet. Perhaps Chelsea are just playing hardball.

Emerson Palmieri could be a very important signing for us this month. Come on Sully, make it happen!

If we were to sign the Blues ace on loan we would, of course, have to make the loan deals of either Said Benrahma or Craig Dawson permanent.
