According to a report from Spanish media outlet AS, West Ham are especially intent on signing Athletic Bilbao centre-back Unai Nunez. That’s despite Arsenal boss viewing the £26 million Spaniard as a ‘priority signing, according to Deia.

Both the Hammers and the Gunners are in desperate need of central defensive reinforcements this summer.
So would the Bilbao ace be a good signing for either of the London clubs?
The Spaniard is described as a tall, strong centre-back who is very good in the air by Inside Athletic (official website for Athletic Bilbao). It is also suggested that the 23-year-old is a fantastic reader of the game.
According to Who Scored, in 12 La Liga outings this season, the Spaniard has averaged 0.8 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 4.3 clearances per game.
Nunez has also won an average of 2.5 aerial duals per game in those matches (Who Scored).
AS claims that Bilbao could sell Nunez for around €30 million (£26 million). And that would represent decent business for either West Ham or Arsenal.
Much will depend on how much ambition the player actually has.
He would obviously have more chance of winning silverware at Arsenal. But perhaps he would be given more game-time at West Ham.
So it remains to be seen where Nunez will actually end up.
