West Ham United are reportedly keen to sign Hoffenheim star Florian Grillitsch in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to a report from The Daily Mail who claim that the 26-year-old defensive midfielder is set to leave Hoffenheim on a free transfer in the summer.

The Hammers allegedly could face competition from the likes of Arsenal, Leeds and Newcastle United for the Austrian ace’s signature, however.

David Moyes will be desperate to sign a top-class defensive midfielder this summer.

West Ham need someone who can come in and provide solid competition and cover for Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek. And it seems as though Moyes has someone in particular in mind…

West Ham eye Florian Grillitsch swoop

The 26-year-old Austria international is out of contract in the summer and The Daily Mail claims that he is very much on the Hammers’ radar.

We think that Grillitsch would be a fine addition for West Ham, especially on a free transfer.

The 26-year-old has made 18 Bundesliga appearances for Hoffenheim so far this season. During those outings, Grillitsch has averaged 2.1 tackles, 1.6 interceptions and two clearances per match (Who Scored).

The Austrian is a very good passer of the footballer. He has averaged 58.1 passes per game with an impressive completion rate of 89.4% (Who Scored).

Standing at 6ft 2in tall, Grillitsch possesses all of the physical attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League.

He is energetic, powerful, has plenty of stamina and is tenacious in the tackle. He can also play at centre-back if need be!

Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann once described Grillitsch as an ‘exceptional’ footballer, as quoted by Sky Sports Austria:

“In my opinion, Flo Grillitsch is one of the best players in the Bundesliga. He still has room for improvement, he knows that, I’ve told him that often enough. But he is an exceptional footballer and has an incredible gift for setting the rhythm of the game.”

Signing the Hoffenheim ace on a free transfer seems like an absolute no-brainer for West Ham. Let’s hope we get this done with the minimum of fuss in the summer.
