West Ham and Tottenham could battle it out for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud in January according to a report from Calcio Mercato.

It is allegedly Inter Milan who are leading the race for the France international’s signature, however.
Both Hammers boss David Moyes and Spurs manager Jose Mourinho may well be in the market for a new striker in January.
So it would be no surprise to see either West Ham or Tottenham move in for Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud.

Blues boss Frank Lampard is allegedly willing to allow the 34-year-old World Cup winner to leave Stamford Bridge (The Guardian).
And perhaps the opportunity to remain in London will appeal to the former Arsenal hitman.
London Stadium or Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?
Giroud still has a lot to offer in spite of his advancing years.
The 6ft 4in target man has proved himself at every level. He has 211 career club games to his name. The Frenchman offers so much more than just goals, however.

Giroud’s hold up play is second to none and there are few better than him in the air.
West Ham are probably more in need of the Chelsea striker than Tottenham are.
Mourinho has Harry Kane and Carlos Vinicius to call upon whilst Moyes could undoubtedly do with more firepower to compete with Michail Antonio and Sebastien Haller.
Sempre Inter recently claimed that Giroud may be available for just €5 million (£4.4 million) in January. If the Hammers manage to pick him up for that kind of fee, he would be a great signing.
And beating Tottenham to the Frenchman’s signature would make it that much sweeter for West Ham.
